Real Salt Lake (4-6-3) jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the 12th minute when Pablo Ruiz took a pass from Bode Hidalgo and scored for a second time this season. Danny Musovski stretched the lead to 2-0 nine minutes later with an unassisted goal — his first of the season. Defender Danny Wilson pulled Colorado (2-6-6) within a goal in the 33rd minute, using an assist from Connor Ronan to score his first of the season. Damir Kreilach scored his second goal of the season when he took passes from Rubio Rubín and Bertin Jacquesson and found the net in the 44th minute, giving Real Salt Lake a 3-1 lead into halftime. Portland (4-5-4) had lost two straight in the series heading into play. Real Salt Lake (3-6-3) scored seven goals in the two wins over the Timbers — a club record for a two-match span. Real Salt Lake has been shut out in its last four matches and has been blanked in seven of its 12 matches this season. The seven clean sheets ties Sporting KC for most in the league this season. Bouanga sparks LAFC to 3-0 victory over Real Salt Lake

SANDY, Utah (AP) — Dénis Bouanga scored his league-leading ninth goal of the season to lead Los Angeles FC to a 3-0 victory over Real Salt Lake on Saturday night. LAFC (6-1-3) beat Real Salt Lake (3-6-2) for a seventh straight time and improved to 11-1-0 in the series. Kwadwo Opoku picked up his first goal — with an assist from Ilie Sánchez — since scoring in the season opener to stake LAFC to a 1-0 lead in the 8th minute. Bouanga stretched the lead to 2–0 when he took a pass from Carlos Vela and scored in the 35th minute. Mateusz Bogusz subbed in for Vela in the 80th minute and scored on a penalty kick in the 87th to complete the scoring. John McCarthy finished with five saves to earn the clean sheet for LAFC. Green Canyon and Mountain Crest advance to the 4A boys soccer championship – Cache Valley Daily

HERRIMAN – The 4A boys soccer championship on Friday will feature a Region 11 rematch between the Green Canyon Wolves and the Mountain Crest Mustangs. The game will begin at 7 p.m. at America First Field in Sandy, home to Real Salt Lake, and will be broadcast on 107.7 KLZX with an option to listen live here on Cache Valley Daily. Both teams won their respective matches by two goals in the semifinals Thursday at Zions Bank Stadium in Herriman, #5 Green Canyon defeating #8 Dixie 2-0 and #6 Mountain Crest defeating the reigning 4A boys soccer champions #2 Crimson Cliffs 3-1. Green Canyon’s two goals came within a few minutes of each other in the first half. The first came in the 23rd minute by Colby Knight off an assist from Jovani Torres, and four minutes later Brayden Jensen scored after the ball bounced around from a penalty kick and got it past the Dixie goalie. Phillip) HOUSTON (AP) — Steve Clark had five saves for the Houston Dynamo and Zac MacMatch saved four shots for Real Salt Lake as the two teams played to a scoreless draw on Saturday night. Real Salt Lake (3-5-2) improves to 5-0-6 in its last 11 match-ups with Houston (4-3-2). Real Salt Lake’s 11-match unbeaten run against Houston is its longest streak against a single opponent. The Dynamo’s drought against RSL is its longest against a single opponent. Houston last beat Real Salt Lake in May of 2017. Clark and the Dynamo have not yielded a goal in five straight matches at home, winning the first four. Houston entered play as the third team in league history to begin a season with four shutout wins at home. The Dynamo had a 16-13 advantage in shots but took just five on goal. The #5 Wolves and #4 Ridgeline Riverhawks split their regular season series, but in the quarterfinals of the boys soccer playoffs Green Canyon scored early and then held on to shut out Ridgeline 1-0. They will face #8 Dixie who upset the top overall seed Layton Christian Academy 2-1. Their game will begin at 10 a.m. Green Canyon isn’t the only Region 11 team that pulled off an upset and will be playing in the semifinals at Zions Bank Stadium on Thursday. #6 Mountain Crest defeated #3 Desert Hills 3-1 in Southern Utah Saturday afternoon.
