SALT LAKE CITY (AP) — Shea Theodore scored on a snap shot from the high slot with 51.5 seconds left in overtime and the Vegas Golden Knights beat the Utah Mammoth 5-4 on Monday night after squandering a three-goal lead, tying their first-round playoff series at two games apiece. “We just didn’t quit,” Theodore said. Game 5 in the best-of-seven series is Wednesday night in Las Vegas. SALT LAKE CITY (AP) — Lawson Crouse scored twice in a 5:42 span in the second period and the Utah Mammoth won the first NHL playoff game in the state, beating the Vegas Golden Knights 4-2 on Friday night for a 2-1 series lead. Game 4 of the best-of-seven series is Monday night in Salt Lake City. Utah evened the series in Las Vegas on Tuesday after winning 3-2. Vegas won the series opener 4-2 on its home ice on Sunday. The Mammoth are in their second season in Utah after leaving Arizona. Crouse’s goals capped an early flurry that saw the Mammoth score four times over the first 30 minutes while being limited to only eight shots on goal during that stretch. “Over the years, we’ve been a team that’s been able to generate in different ways,” Utah captain Clayton Keller said. “Sometimes we’re going to have more shots than other nights. Quality over quantity sometimes and just bearing down on the looks that you do get. Utah State’s second addition via the transfer portal marked the Aggies’ first foray into directly recruiting junior college players since 2023. Ben Jacobson also went local with this recruit, signing Crimson Cliffs graduate and Snow College center Sean Felts, who ranks 19th among junior college prospects according to jucorecruiting.com. The St. George native had previously noted he went to Snow College because of its proximity to his hometown, and while Logan is a little further up the road, being able to stay in-state and within drivable distance and play in the upper end of Division I was something Felts wasn’t exactly going to pass up. SANDY, Utah (AP) — Rodrigo De Paul and Luis Suárez scored less than two minutes apart late in the second half, and Dayne St. Clair earned his second clean sheet of the season as Inter Miami beat Real Salt Lake 2-0 on Wednesday night. It was the fastest two goals in club history at one minute and 54 seconds. De Paul took a short corner from Telasco Segovia and curled a shot into the upper-right corner of the goal in the 82nd minute. Suárez, who entered in the 75th, volleyed a left-footed shot past goalkeeper Rafael Cabral for his second goal of the season. Miami (5-1-3) is unbeaten in its last eight regular-season games to sit in second in the Eastern Conference standings. Salt Lake (5-1-2) had a six-game unbeaten run come to an end.
