The Top 25 Aggies of the 2024 Utah State football season, presented by Cache Valley Media Group, kicks off with No. 25, the kicker for Utah State football, Elliott Nimrod.
Nimrod is entering his fourth season with the Aggies after transferring to Utah State in 2021 from Arkansas State. He served as the team’s kickoff specialist in 2021 and 2022, appearing in all 27 of the Aggies games those two seasons.
Last year Nimrod became the team’s starting field goal kicker, in addition to his kickoff duties. Nimrod hit 11 of 14 field goal attempts throughout the season, including a season-long 45-yarder against Iowa. He also made 41 of 43 PATs, tying for eight-most PATs made in a single season in Utah State history. In his USU tenure, Nimrod has averaged 59.3 yards per kickoff with 84 touchbacks (40.3 percent of all kickoffs).
Against James Madison, Nimrod completed a trick play by scoring a rushing touchdown on a fake field goal attempt. It was, and so far is, the only rush attempt and only touchdown of his career.
The Top 25 Aggies is based on a vote from members of Utah State media including Jason Walker, Eric Frandsen, Craig Hislop and Ajay Salvesen. A public fan poll was also used with its results being used as a fifth ballot. The full list of 25 players will be revealed one at a time each weekday on the Full Court Press (106.9 FM, 1390 AM) at 4:25 p.m. from July 22 until August 26.
