Top 25 Aggies of 2024 – #24 Andre Seldon | Sports

Today was the day to announce Andre Seldon’s place on Cache Valley Media Group’s Top 25 Aggies of 2024. However, Andre tragically passed away this past Saturday at the age of 22. At the time of his death, ballots for the Top 25 Aggies had already been submitted and tallied. But rather than remove him from the list, we felt it best to honor his memory in at least one small way by noting his placement on this list and status as one of the impact players for USU. Seldon had transferred to Utah State after two seasons at New Mexico State, with two years spent at Michigan before that. His career accomplishments to that point were notable, with 97 career tackles, 4.5 TFLs and two interceptions (with one of those being a pick-six) while becoming a leader of New Mexico State’s defense. Seldon transferred to Utah State, following his defensive coordinator from NMSU, Nate Dreiling, to Logan. Instead of citing his potential on the football field, it’s best to leave a description of Seldon to some of his coaches and teammates who knew him best, many of whom shared their feelings on social media. Top 25 Aggies of 2024 – #25 Elliott Nimrod | Sports

The Top 25 Aggies of the 2024 Utah State football season, presented by Cache Valley Media Group, kicks off with No. 25, the kicker for Utah State football, Elliott Nimrod. Nimrod is entering his fourth season with the Aggies after transferring to Utah State in 2021 from Arkansas State. He served as the team’s kickoff specialist in 2021 and 2022, appearing in all 27 of the Aggies games those two seasons. Last year Nimrod became the team’s starting field goal kicker, in addition to his kickoff duties. Nimrod hit 11 of 14 field goal attempts throughout the season, including a season-long 45-yarder against Iowa. He also made 41 of 43 PATs, tying for eight-most PATs made in a single season in Utah State history. In his USU tenure, Nimrod has averaged 59.3 yards per kickoff with 84 touchbacks (40.3 percent of all kickoffs). Against James Madison, Nimrod completed a trick play by scoring a rushing touchdown on a fake field goal attempt. It was, and so far is, the only rush attempt and only touchdown of his career. The Top 25 Aggies is based on a vote from members of Utah State media including Jason Walker, Eric Frandsen, Craig Hislop

Explaining both sides of the dispute between Blake Anderson and Utah State | News

LOGAN – Utah State University has gutted its athletics department this July with the firing of three of its senior-level management and one mid-level position within days of each other. Head football coach Blake Anderson, deputy athletic director Jerry Bovee, senior woman administrator Amy Crosbie and football director of player development Austin Albrecht have all been dismissed over alleged failures to report an incident of domestic violence as required by USU policy. Following a waiting period for appeals and responses to appeals, USU has gone forward with the firings of all four individuals. Each of those four have released a public statement regarding their firing, but Anderson has been the most vocal, mainly through his legal representation attorney Tom Mars. He filed a 70-page response to USU’s letter noting its intention to fire Anderson “for cause” (i.e., without having to pay the roughly $4.5 million buyout USU would owe him). That response has been made public as has the summary of the external review done on behalf of USU by the Husch Blackwell Law Firm.  Austin Albrecht: ‘saddened’ by termination from USU but wishes best for Cache Valley, USU student-athletes Former USU Deputy AD Jerry Bovee claims he didn’t fail
