LOGAN, Utah — Utah State head men’s basketball coach Jerrod Calhoun and his family have announced a transformational commitment to the Wayne Estes Fund, pledging to match every new gift up to $150,000 in support of recruitment and retention efforts for USU’s men’s basketball program.
The Wayne Estes Fund, originally established to provide operational support for men’s basketball, was recently restructured and will now support retention and recruitment efforts following the approval of the House settlement. Additionally, fans who want to support men’s basketball but don’t meet the minimum donation requirement for the Wayne Estes Fund will have the option to contribute at a different price point to a recruitment and retention fund designated for men’s basketball.
Aggie Nation is encouraged to make financial commitments to retain current USU student-athletes and recruit the next group of Aggie leaders, who will go on to impact Logan and the Cache Valley communities as graduates.
“Utah State University and the city of Logan are special, and our men’s basketball program and student-athletes play a pivotal role on campus and in the community, creating lasting memories for generations of Aggies,” said Calhoun. “In the new era of intercollegiate athletics, it is paramount that Aggie Nation continue to support those outstanding student-athletes, while looking towards the future and finding the next amazing group of Aggie leaders. Financial gifts to the Wayne Estes Fund are transformational for the program and provide the necessary resources to put a championship-level team on the court.”
Following the financial gift, the Big Blue Club announced a match campaign, aiming to raise an additional $150,000 to support the men’s basketball program in its recruitment and retention efforts. Investments in the Wayne Estes Fund count toward a donor’s Big Blue Club annual membership level, benefits and priority points. These gifts may be considered tax-deductible charitable donations.
