LOGAN — This year’s Utah State soccer team continues to make history with its meteoric rise through the collegiate soccer ranks. After a pair of dominant wins this past week, USU is now ranked No. 9 in the United Soccer Coaches Poll. The 9th overall ranking — the highest achieved by any USU sports team since the 1971 men’s basketball team were also ranked 9th — comes after wins of 3-0 over Utah Valley and 9-3 against Pacific. It’s a jump from last week’s No. 11 ranking and No. 19 before that. Prior to 2024, the Aggies had never been ranked or even received a vote in the poll. LOGAN, Utah – Former Utah State men’s basketball coach and administrator Rod Tueller was inducted into the Utah Sports Hall of Fame Monday evening at the Little America Hotel in Salt Lake City. Tueller, who was inducted into the Utah State Athletics Hall of Fame in 2016, joins the Utah Sports Hall of Fame as part of a five-member 2024 class. Tueller spent a total of 19 years at Utah State as both a basketball coach and administrator. Following his graduation from USU in 1959, Tueller spent 14 years coaching high school basketball in the state of Utah before beginning his professional association with Utah State. Prior to the 1973-74 season, Tueller was named an assistant coach for the Aggies under then-head coach Dutch Belnap. For six seasons from 1974-79, Tueller helped the Aggies to a 106-58 record and three postseason appearances. Tueller was then named the school’s 12th head men’s basketball coach prior to the 1979-80 season, and in his first year in charge of the Aggies, led the program to a 19-8 record, including an 11-2 mark in the Pacific Coast Athletic Association (PCAA), and its first league title in more than four decades. LOGAN, Utah – After posting a 2-0 week with a 3-0 road win over Utah Valley on Thursday and a 9-3 win at home over Pacific on Sunday, the still-undefeated Utah State soccer team (7-0) made its top-10 debut in the United Soccer Coaches Top 25, checking in this week at No. 9. The Aggies continue to make history, ranked for the third-straight week after having never received a vote in the poll prior to this season. This is the highest ranking in a national poll by any Utah State team regardless of sport since 1971, when the men’s basketball team peaked at No. 9 in the AP Poll.  Utah State received 118 points in the poll, up from last week’s 47. USU is the only Mountain West team that received any votes. Pepperdine, who the Aggies defeated 3-0 on Aug. 15, rank No. 18, while BYU is also still receiving votes.
