LOGAN, Utah – After posting a 2-0 week with a 3-0 road win over Utah Valley on Thursday and a 9-3 win at home over Pacific on Sunday, the still-undefeated Utah State soccer team (7-0) made its top-10 debut in the United Soccer Coaches Top 25, checking in this week at No. 9.
The Aggies continue to make history, ranked for the third-straight week after having never received a vote in the poll prior to this season. This is the highest ranking in a national poll by any Utah State team regardless of sport since 1971, when the men’s basketball team peaked at No. 9 in the AP Poll.
Utah State received 118 points in the poll, up from last week’s 47. USU is the only Mountain West team that received any votes. Pepperdine, who the Aggies defeated 3-0 on Aug. 15, rank No. 18, while BYU is also still receiving votes. Utah Valley, who Utah State defeated on Sept. 5, is also receiving votes in the poll.
While posting a perfect 7-0 record, Utah State has outscored opponents this year by a combined 25-4, including five shutout victories.
The Aggies will travel to Ogden, Utah, this weekend for their final road match of non-conference play as they take on Weber State (0-5-3, 0-0-0 Big Sky) on Sunday, Sept. 15, at 4 p.m. Utah State returns home to wrap up non-conference play next week when it hosts Washington State (2-2-2, 0-0-0 WCC) on Thursday, Sept. 19, at 4 p.m.
