Ridgeline 74, Bear River 38 (Region 11 Game of the Week) Bear River  –  8 | 9 | 12 | 9 – 38 Ridgeline   –    21 | 25 | 17 | 11 – 74 Top Performers Bear River: Gracie Riley – 14 points Ridgeline: Emilee Skinner – 21 points Ridgeline continued its perfect season with a win over Bear River in the Region 11 Game of the Week. The Riverhawks jumped out early, taking an 8-4 lead and going on a 22-4 run spanning the first and second quarters. The scoring slowed down in the second half but Ridgeline still outscored the Bears by seven points in the second half. Five Riverhawks players scored double figures led by Emilee Skinner’s 21, followed by 14 from Halle Smith, 13 from Elise Livingston, 11 from Brinley Wiese and 10 from Macie Brown. Longtime Mustangs baseball coach humbled to be inducted into NHSBCA Hall of Fame – Cache Valley Daily

HYRUM – Early in January, former Mountain Crest baseball head coach Steve Hansen received a call from the president of the National High School Baseball Coaches Association. The news from the other end is something the 27-year veteran of high school coaching had maybe been expecting, but now was confirmed. Hansen was informed he will be inducted into the 2023 class of the NHSBCA Hall of Fame. “It’s humbling without a doubt,” Hansen said in an exclusive interview with the Full Court Press on 106.9 The FAN last week. “Just knowing some of the other coaches that are in it.” After hearing the news, Hansen immediately told his wife, Jill, who celebrated with him as one of the people who had helped Hansen the most through what can now be called a Hall of Fame career. “Everybody knows if they’ve been around Mountain Crest baseball, she’s the backbone of it all,” Hansen said. Hansen entered the coaching profession immediately after graduating from Southern Utah University in 1990. The young Hansen had been a standout player at Hillcrest High School and then Snow College. But with his playing career over, Hansen went into coaching. His first job came at Tooele High

Hannah Radford earns first CVMG Prep Basketball Player of the Week award – Cache Valley Daily

SMITHFIELD – Following a career game last week, Sky View guard Hannah Radford has been named Cache Valley Media Group Prep Basketball Player of the Week, presented by McDonalds. In the one game Sky View played last week, Radford scored a career-high 27 points in the Bobcats’ 66-46 win over Bear River. Radford led all scorers across boys and girls games last week, helped along by the fact she went a perfect 5-for-5 on 3-pointers. The five made threes was also a career-high for senior. To those points and threes, Radford added five rebounds and three assists. Three others were nominated for this week’s Player of the Week: Carson Cox (Ridgeline boys), Emilee Skinner (Ridgeline girls), and Jordan Child (Logan boys). Cox scored 20 points to lead the boys team’s win over Green Canyon. Skinner also had 20 points in the girls team’s win over Green Canyon while also grabbing 15 rebounds. Child scored 21 points in Logan’s thrilling win over Mountain Crest. Josh Green and Jaden Hardy each scored career highs of 29 points and the short-handed Mavericks stunned the Utah Jazz 124-111 on Monday night after completing a trade for Irving. “Luka (and Irving) are going to have their amazing nights, but if we want to be a championship team it’s about the rest of us being able to step up,” Green said.
