Cache Valley Media Group announces boys basketball All-Region 11 team, coach and player awards – Cache Valley Daily

Ridgeline High School basketball coach Kyle Day cuts down the nets after his team wins Region 11. Photo by Tina Lerohl LOGAN – The 2021-22 boys basketball season featured high-level basketball and multiple teams performing well all year. It was a rebuilding year for some teams and others featured new coaches. Not only did this season of boys basketball feature live play-by-play on six local radio stations, but also featured live video of the games broadcast here on Cache Valley Daily for the first time ever. The broadcasts provided an opportunity for fans, friends and family to view the games from afar, check in on multiple games happening simultaneously and the ability to re-watch games after they concluded. For the second year in a row the staff of the Cache Valley Media Group chose Ridgeline’s Kyle Day as Region 11 Coach of the Year. The Riverhawks finished as Region 11 champions with an 8-1 region record and as the 3rd ranked team in 4A at the conclusion of the season, finishing the year with an 18-6 overall record. Region 11 coaches announce girls basketball awards – Cache Valley Daily

Ridgeline Riverhawks player Emilee Skinner dribbles the ball in a game against Green Canyon. Photo by Clint Allen MILLVILLE – A magical season for the Ridgeline Riverhawks came up short after two overtimes in the state championship game at Dixie State University last month, but that didn’t prevent the team from capturing several post-season awards as voted on by Region 11 coaches. Emilee Skinner was recognized as the Region MP and Defensive MVP. Her coach, Ainsli Jenks, was also recognized as the Coach of the Year but she shares that honor with Logan High coach Tori Craner. The Ridgeline and Logan seasons were a story in contrasts. The Riverhawks were regarded as the top team in the state for much of the season and routinely had large margins of victories over their opponents. The Grizzlies, on the other hand, were a rebuilding basketball program after having appeared in the state championship just last year. The Logan girls team never won a game and suffered defeats by wide margins throughout the year, one of which made headlines when Ridgeline blew out the Grizzlies 96-15. Coach Jenks was suspended for one game by Ridgeline administration for what was deemed poor sportsmanship. The
