Jordan Child, Emilee Skinner earn CVMG Prep Player of the Week honors for Nov. 27-Dec. 2 – Cache Valley Daily

Jordan Child and Emilee Skinner have been named this week’s Cache Valley Media Group Prep Players of the Week, presented by McDonalds. Child, a forward for the Logan boys basketball team, is the boys player of the week with Emilee Skinner, a guard on Ridgeline’s girls basketball team, being named the girls player of the week. Child scored a career-high 31 points in the Grizzlies’ 73-53 win over Spanish Fork, also grabbing 12 rebounds for his second double-double of the season. He followed that up with 24 points in Logan’s thrilling 55-53 win over Woods Cross. Skinner also posted back-to-back games with at least 20 points. She scored 26 points alongside six rebounds, five assists, two steals and four blocks in Ridgeline’s 76-63 win over Grantsville. Then, in a low-scoring 46-42 win over Lone Peak, Skinner still put up 22 points to go with nine rebounds and five assists. Other nominations for this week’s awards included Tanner Davis (Sky View), Bridger Barfus (Bear River), Jared Anderson (Green Canyon), Jagger Francom (Ridgeline), Kaden Hess (Mountain Crest), Karlee Allen (Sky View), Brooklyn Pond (Bear River), Marissa Best (Green Canyon), Julia Held (Logan), and Kali Jones (Mountain Crest). Mia Lopez, Payton Wilson earn CVMG Prep Player of the Week honors for Oct. 2-7 – Cache Valley Daily

LEFT – Logan girls soccer forward Mia Lopez | RIGHT – Green Canyon football quarterback Payton Wilson Mia Lopez and Payton Wilson have been named this week’s Cache Valley Media Group Prep Players of the Week, presented by McDonalds. Lopez, a forward for the Logan girls soccer team, is the girls player of the week with Payton Wilson, quarterback of Green Canyon’s football team, being named the boys player of the week. Lopez recorded a hat trick in the Grizzlies’ 3-2 win over Dixie in the first round of the UHSAA 4A Girls Soccer Playoffs. She scored twice in the first half, including one in the first two minutes of the game, and then netted the game-winner late in the second half to send Logan to the second round of the playoffs. Wilson set career-highs in passing yards and touchdowns this week in Green Canyon’s 39-15 win over Logan. He completed 13 of 14 passes for 257 yards with four passing touchdowns and added a rushing TD for good measure.
