Cam Rising throws 5 TDs in return from injury as No. 12 Utah rolls past Southern Utah 49-0 | Sports

SALT LAKE CITY (AP) — Cam Rising made his return with a career-high five touchdown passes — three to Brant Kuithe — to power No. 12 Utah to a 49-0 win over Southern Utah on Thursday night. Rising, a seventh-year senior quarterback, shined in his first game action since tearing multiple knee ligaments in the Utes’ Rose Bowl loss to Penn State on Jan. 2, 2023, going 10 of 15 for 254 yards and 25 rushing yards as the 84th consecutive sellout crowd at Rice-Eccles Stadium held its collective breath on each rush. He left the game in the second quarter with Utah up 35-0 after leading five consecutive scoring drives. “I just looked out into the kind of stands and took a second to just take it in and breathe, but that feeling kind of goes out of the out of the way once the coin toss really happens, and then you’re just focused on winning the game,” said Rising, who missed the entire 2023 season. Utah State announces new security procedures for Maverik Stadium | Sports

LOGAN, Utah — In coordination with the Department of Homeland Security and local law enforcement, Utah State has announced several updates to their security procedures at Maverik Stadium in response to a recent assessment. For fans attending events at Maverik Stadium, including home football games, clear bags (maximum 12 inches by 12 inches by 6 inches) will be accepted at all entrances. Opaque medical and diaper bags of reasonable size will only be allowed through Gates B and E. All attendees with non-clear bags will be directed to enter via Gates B and E, and will not be otherwise permitted entry into the facility.   Gates A and K will also be closed to public access and limited to entry for credentialed staff and media. The Jim & Carol Laub Athletics-Academic Complex, located beyond the north end zone, will be closed to public access on game days, including the Steve Mothersell Hall of Honor. Utah State will also be implementing a “no re-entry” policy for events at Maverik Stadium. Fans will not be allowed to re-enter the facility except for extenuating circumstances approved by facility and event management command, such as retrieving medical equipment.
