Top 25 Aggies of 2024 – #1 Jalen Royals | Sports

The number one player for Utah State football in the Cache Valley Media Group Top 25 Aggies of 2024 is wide receiver Jalen Royals. Last year Royals had a breakout season for the ages. He went from not playing just 48 snaps on offense in all of 2022, to setting a Utah State program record in 2023. Royals caught 71 passes for 1,080 yards and a USU single-season record 15 touchdown passes. Seven of those TDs were catches of 50 yards or longer, a total the led the nation. Royals’ season is perhaps more impressive given that through the first four games of the year he had only 197 yards and two touchdowns. He exploded onto the scene with his next three games, with games of 185 yards and three TDs against UConn, 140 yards and two scores against Colorado State and 125 yards with another two touchdowns vs Fresno State. The Top 25 Aggies is based on a vote from members of Utah State media including Jason Walker, Eric Frandsen, Craig Hislop and Ajay Salvesen. Utah State football to unveil Ag-themed helmet in season opener | Sports

LOGAN, Utah — Utah State University and its football program will celebrate its agricultural history by unveiling an ag-themed alternate helmet in its season- and home-opener against Robert Morris on Saturday, Aug. 31, at 6 p.m. “We are honored to celebrate Utah State University’s long history of excellence in agricultural education with our alternate helmets,” said USU vice president and director of athletics Diana Sabau. “USU has been at the forefront of agricultural technologies and practices since its founding. The helmets provide us an opportunity to honor Utah State’s agricultural success and those who work to maintain its reputation as one of the leading agricultural schools in the nation.” Utah State University was originally founded in 1888 as the Agricultural College of Utah and has retained a strong foothold in agricultural science and business ever since. In 1903, five original “schools” were set up within Utah State University,” including the School of Agriculture and the School of Agricultural Engineering and Mechanical Arts.
