Three former USU basketball players are participating in NBA Las Vegas Summer League | Sports

The annual Las Vegas Summer League begins competition today and three former Utah State men’s basketball players, Darius Brown, Neemias Queta and Taylor Funk, are on rosters among all 30 clubs participating in the exhibition tournament. Brown is signed with the Cleveland Cavaliers, Queta with the Boston Celtics and Funk is on the Washington Wizards. For Funk and Queta, this will be a return to the summer league, though neither have played summer games with their current respective teams. Queta played in three summer leagues with the Sacrament Kings, playing 17 total games and averaging 9.1 points, 6.2 rebounds 1.5 blocks and 1.3 assists in 21.7 minutes per game. His fourth appearance in the summer festivities, now with Boston, comes after he signed a multi-year contract with Boston, an upgrade over the two-way deals Queta had been signed on every year since being drafted in 2021.  Neemias Queta re-signs with Boston Celtics on multi-year contract Funk spent last summer with the Miami Heat, appearing in just four games and scoring a total of six points on 26.3 percent shooting. Prior to the NBA regular season the Heat waived Funk who then signed with Washington. Funk then played the entire year

Spencer Petras’ journey from the Hawkeyes to Aggies, a quick and easy decision that’s set the veteran QB up for success | Sports

It’s been roughly 600 days since Spencer Petras last played in a competitive football game, hard to believe for someone who for five straight seasons between 2018 and 2022 appeared on the field at least once for the University of Iowa. For the final three years, Petras was the full-time starter and the Hawkeyes went 23-11 in that time span. He threw for more than 5,000 yards with 24 touchdowns. As 2022 drew to its close, there was every indication Petras would be able to use his extra season of eligibility given to him because of the COVID year and be Iowa’s starting QB for a fourth and final time.
