Darius Brown goes through pre-draft works out with two NBA teams | Sports

Former Utah State men’s basketball point guard Darius Brown went through pre-draft workouts with two NBA teams his agent said on social media. The Cleveland Cavaliers and Washington Wizards are the two teams that have shown interest in Brown.

Despite playing only one season with the Aggies prior to his graduation, Brown became a program legend. He set the single-season assists record with 228 and hit multiple clutch 3-pointers to lead USU to key wins in its path to becoming the Mountain West regular season champions. He earned All-Mountain West First Team and All-Defense honors as one of the top points guards in the stacked conference.

Brown worked out for the Cavaliers earlier this week on Tuesday, then did the same with the Wizards on Wednesday. Both teams have connections to former Aggies with Sam Merrill playing for Cleveland and Taylor Funk being on the roster of Washington’s G-League affiliate, the Capital City Go-Go.

Although he’s worked out for multiple teams, Brown’s prospects of being drafted by an NBA team on June 26 appear quite low. He doesn’t appear on any mock draft or big board rankings from any major outlets. But with these workouts it becomes more likely Brown could have a path to signing with a team for the NBA Summer League and earning a chance to showcase his talents on that stage.
