Local high school star Elise Livingston commits to play for Utah State | Sports

LOGAN — In a big early recruiting win for new head coach Wes Brooks, Ridgeline guard Elise Livingston has switched her recruiting commitment to Utah Valley over to Utah State.

“We’re very excited about Elise and bringing in a local kid from Ridgeline who is a state champion,” Brooks said in a statement. “She is a winner, which is one thing we love about her. She’ll bring the ability to shoot the ball as well as a defensive presence for our press, so we’re very excited about her game.”

Livingston was a four-year letterwinner and three-year starter for the Riverhawks. She averaged 11.1 points, 1.7 rebounds, 2.0 assists and 1.6 steals in 99 career appearances. In her senior season, Livingston scored a career-best 14.7 points per game on 49.8 percent shooting (35.8 percent from three).

Ridgeline’s head coach, Ainsli Jenks, said Utah State is “lucky to have her.”

“We are so excited for Elise to be playing right here in Logan next season,” Jenks said. “She was an integral part of our success and I think will really be able to help the new coaches at USU build a great culture. She is such a hard-working athlete who loves to be in the gym. She is an excellent student (4.0 academic All-State recipient) and loves being involved in the community.”

During Livingston’s latter three seasons with Ridgeline, which included being paired with superstar teammate Emilee Skinner, the team went on a rampage through the Utah girls basketball circuit. From 2021 to 2024, the Riverhawks went a combined 74-4, winning three Region 11 titles with three appearances in the 4A state title game and two state championship victories. Perhaps most notable was the undefeated 25-0 season Ridgeline completed in the 2022-23 season.
