LOGAN, Utah – Utah State’s 2024 Mountain West football schedule was announced Thursday by the conference office as the Aggies enter their 12th season in the league. In all, USU’s eight conference games will be spread out over nine weeks from Oct. 5 through Nov. 30.
Thursday’s release represents the first phase in the 2024 football schedule process. Mountain West national television partners CBS Sports and Fox Sports will now initiate a selection procedure, which will include the shifting of games to non-Saturday dates. That will be followed by the identification of network outlets and kick times.
Games against Oregon State and Washington State will not count toward the Mountain West standings and those two squads will not be eligible to participate in the Old Trapper MW Championship. The scheduling agreement strengthens the Conference’s non-conference schedule, enhances the league’s national brand and expands the MW footprint.
Utah State’s 2024 Mountain West schedule will include home games against UNLV (10/12), New Mexico (10/19), Hawai’i (11/16) and San Diego State (11/23), and road games against Boise State (10/5), Wyoming (10/26) and Colorado State (11/30), in addition to a non-conference game at Washington State (11/9).
Utah State will also have two bye weeks during the season with the first falling on the last weekend of September and the second on the first weekend of November following its eighth game of the year.
Utah State will have back-to-back home games twice during the season, once in September and again in November. The Aggies do have consecutive road games twice during the season, but there is a bye week between the two contests.
Utah State opens the season with four-straight non-conference games as it hosts Robert Morris in the first-ever meeting between the two programs on Saturday, Aug. 31. USU then travels to USC for the seventh meeting in the series on Saturday, Sept. 7. The Aggies then host in-state rival Utah on Saturday, Sept. 14, and conclude the month by playing at Temple in the first-ever meeting between the two schools on Saturday, Sept. 21.
Utah State and Utah will be meeting for the 113th time, which is the most-played series for both programs. It will be the first time the two teams have faced one another since 2015, including its first meeting in Logan since 2012.
Following its first bye of the season, Utah State begins the month of October with its first Mountain West game of the season as it plays at Boise State on Saturday, Oct. 5. The Broncos and Aggies will be meeting for the 29th time.
Utah State then hosts UNLV and New Mexico in back-to-back home games on Saturday, Oct. 12 and Saturday, Oct. 19, respectively. USU will be facing the Rebels for the 27th time and the Lobos for the 31st time, as its series with UNM is the 10th-most played in school history, while its series with UNLV is the 15th-most played.
Utah State will conclude the month of October at Wyoming on Saturday, Oct. 26, as the Aggies and Cowboys are the fourth-most played series in school history with 72 previous meetings.
Following its second bye of the season, Utah State begins the month of November with its final non-conference game as it plays at Washington State on Saturday, Nov. 9. The Aggies and Cougars have meet four previous times.
Utah State then returns to Mountain West play for its second of back-to-back home games as it hosts Hawai’i on Saturday, Nov. 16, and San Diego State on Saturday, Nov. 23. USU will be facing the Rainbow Warriors for the 19th time and the Aztecs for the 18th time.
Utah State will then conclude Mountain West play and the regular season on the road at Colorado State on Saturday, Nov. 30. USU will be facing the Rams for the 80th time, in what is the Aggies’ third-oldest rivalry.
The 2024 schedule will play out over 15 weeks, concluding with the Old Trapper Mountain West Football Championship Game on a date to be announced. The contest will feature the two teams with the highest Conference winning percentage.
The 2024 Mountain West football membership includes Air Force, Boise State, Colorado State, Fresno State, Hawai’i, Nevada, New Mexico, San Diego State, San José State, UNLV, Utah State and Wyoming.
