Claire Fischer, Macade Rolle earn CVMG Prep Player of the Week honors for Jan. 22-27 – Cache Valley Daily

LEFT – Sky View boys basketball guard Macade Rolle | RIGHT – Sky View girls basketball forward Claire Fischer LOGAN — Sky View has swept this week’s Boys and Girls Cache Valley Media Group Prep Players of the Week, Presented by McDonalds. Boys basketball guard Macade Rolle and girls basketball forward Clair Fischer earned the distinctions for this past week. Rolle, an emerging sophomore guard for the Bobcats, set a career-high in points with 23 against Green Canyon and then followed it up with 20 against Mountain Crest for a second straight 20-point game. His 20 points, to go with five assists (which tied his previous career high) helped the Bobcats get their first win since the start of region play. For the week, Rolle averaged 21.5 points, 4.5 assists and shot 5 of 11 on 3-pointers overall. Fischer played two dominant games for the Bobcats in a 2-0 week that solidified her team as the clear second-place team in the region and No. 4 team in the 4A RPI. She started the week by nearly recording a 20/20 game by scoring 24 points and grabbing 19 rebounds against Green Canyon and then dominated the paint defensively against Mountain Crest

Fresh off win in first-place bout, Utah State hosts last-place San Jose State – Cache Valley Daily

Last time out, Utah State saw itself participate in a first-place clash on the road, but this evening it’ll be a first vs last matchup at home as the Aggies will welcome San Jose State into the Dee Glen Smith Spectrum. The Spartans are 1-6 in conference play, with its lone win being against the team that it’s tied for 10th with in the standings, Air Force (OK, so maybe that means it’s not technically first vs last since SJSU has a tiebreaker to be 10th and AFA to be 11th, but I wasn’t passing up that lead). That record, and SJSU’s overall 8-12 mark, hides what’s been a fiercely competitive team capable of going toe-to-toe with good teams. Five of their losses were decided either in overtime or by three or fewer points.
