LOGAN — For the week of Aug. 28 to Sept. 2, Mountain Crest girls soccer senior Addy Sofonia was named the Cache Valley Media Group Girls Prep Player of the Week while Sky View football running back Brevin Egbert earned Boys Prep Player of the Week, both awards presented by McDonalds.
Sofonia recorded three goals in the week, all three as part of a hat trick she scored against Sky View in the Mustangs’ 4-1 victory over the Bobcats. The win advanced MC to 3-1 in Region 11 play, tied with Green Canyon and Ridgeline for first-place in the tightly contested region.
Egbert tallied 208 scrimmage yards in Sky View’s 35-7 win over Fremont on Friday. He ran for 185 yards on 21 carries and caught two passes for 23 yards. He also scored three touchdowns, all on the ground.
Other nominees for this week’s boys and girls player of the week were Austin Miller (Green Canyon girls soccer), Kate McLaughlin (Logan girls volleyball), Anna Reese (Sky View girls volleyball), Holli Daniels (Green Canyon girls volleyball), Tydon Jones (Bear River football), Calvin Wallis (Green Canyon football), Cooper Redd (Logan football), Casey Crofts (Mountain Crest football) and Graham Livingston (Ridgeline football).
