Bracket Play resumes for RL, BR, MC, and SV in 4A softball playoffs

LOGAN – The opening round of the playoffs are done and multiple Region 11 teams are advancing to Bracket Play in the 4A softball playoffs. In the Super Regionals, all of the higher-seeded Region 11 teams won their best-of-three series. The Mountain Crest Mustangs required three games to get past Hurricane, but all other Region 11 teams got their series wrapped up in two games.

Double elimination Bracket Play gets underway May 17-18 at the Cottonwood Softball Complex located at 4400 South 1300 East in Millcreek, with brackets now re-seeded after the Super Regionals. Multiple games will begin Wednesday at 12 noon, including #1 Ridgeline facing #8 Mountain Crest on Field 2. #2 Bear River takes on #7 Cedar at 12 p.m. on Field 4. And #6 Sky View takes on #3 Desert Hills on Field 3, also at 12 p.m. Because of their end-of-season RPI rankings as the #1 and #2 teams in softball, neither Ridgeline nor Bear River needed to participate in Super Regionals last week.

In the First Bracket, the winner of the Ridgeline vs Mountain Crest game will face the winner of #4 Snow Canyon vs #5 Crimson Cliffs at 2:30 p.m. on Field 2 that same afternoon. The two teams which lose in the earlier games will face each other on Field 1 at 2:30 p.m. In the Second Bracket, the winner of the Bear River vs Cedar game will face the winner of Sky View vs Desert Hills on Field 4 at 2:30 p.m. The two teams which lose the earlier games will face each other on Field 3 at 2:30 p.m.

Bracket play will resume on Thursday, May 18th as early as 10:30 a.m. and as late as 2:30 p.m., if necessary. Winners of the First and Second Brackets will face each other for a best-of-three championship round on May 19th and 20th at Gail Miller Field at Brigham Young University.
