Former Aggie guard Steven Ashworth commits to Creighton – Cache Valley Daily

Steven Ashworth. Photo by Clint Allen LOGAN — Former Utah State basketball guard Steven Ashworth announced he is committing to Creighton. He made the announcement live on The Field of 68 YouTube channel Monday afternoon. In three seasons at USU, Ashworth played 97 games with 42 starts. He averaged 10.6 points, 3.6 assists and 3.3 rebounds. Ashworth earned First Team All-Mountain West honors this season after averaging 16.2 points, 4.5 assists and shooting 43.4 percent on 3-pointers. He entered the transfer portal on April 6, shortly after former USU head coach Ryan Odom left to take the same job at VCU. Had Ashworth stayed at USU, the pace he set this last year could have carried him over the 2,000 point mark at USU and easily given him multiple USU 3-point shooting records. Creighton went 24-13 last year, finishing third in the Big East with a conference record of 14-6. The Blue Jays earned an NCAA Tournament bid and were a No. 6 seed, making it all the way to the Elite Eight where they lost to San Diego State. According to The Field of 68, Ashworth’s other top choices next to Creighton included Utah State, BYU, Gonzaga, Washington and

Utah State football will hold practice in lieu of annual Spring Showcase on Saturday, April 22 – Cache Valley Daily

LOGAN, Utah – Utah State football will hold a practice in lieu of its annual Blue vs. White Spring Showcase on Merlin Olsen Field at Maverik Stadium on Saturday, April 22. Practice will start at 1 p.m. “Due to injuries and attrition during the spring, the number of available players is not where we need it to be to hold a traditional spring game, so we will hold a practice,” said USU head coach Blake Anderson. “Everyone that is available to practice will practice, but it will mostly be in drill settings. We will finish with some live work, but that will be very short and limited.” Fans will have the opportunity to win prizes during the practice with various on-field competitions. Seating for the Spring Showcase will be limited to Sections 100-109 as the south endzone, and all of the east side of the stadium will be closed due to construction. Following the Spring Showcase, Utah State’s football players will participate in a youth clinic on the field for all kids ages 12 and under. A large number of former Aggies will be in attendance and recognized as a group during the practice. Gates at Maverik Stadium will open at
