Sky View tops 4A RPI in both boys and girls basketball – Cache Valley Daily

SMITHFIELD – The first Utah High School Activities Association RPI rankings for boys and girls basketball were released Monday morning and Sky View topped the list for both sports. The Bobcats’ girls team is an undefeated 7-0 while its boys team is 9-1.

Ridgeline’s boys and girls teams also did well in the RPI, coming in at second on the girls RPI and fourth in the boys. The Logan boys team came in at ninth despite owning the fifth-best winning percentage with a 7-3 record. The disparity comes from the Grizzlies having the second-worst opponent’s win percentage which accounts for 50 percent of the final number teams are ranked by.

Region 11 currently fares much better overall in the girls RPI, owning the first three spots via (in order) Sky View, Ridgeline and Green Canyon. Five of the top seven 4A girls basketball teams are in Region 11.

In boys basketball, the balance between Region 11 and Region 10 is much closer. The top team is Region 11 but two and three come from Region 10. The bottom four is also split between the two regions.

Here is the full rankings for both boys and girls RPI with the number in parenthesis being the calculated RPI number for each team (rounded from its original six decimal places to just three for easier viewing).
