LOGAN — Two teams from Region 11 were ranked inside the top three of the final RPI for boys soccer released this morning by Utah High School Activities Association. The release of these rankings also sets forth the playoff bracket for the 4A state title the 27 teams in the classification will vie for starting this weekend.
Ridgeline, which secured the Region 11 title with a victory over Logan Tuesday night, was the highest ranked of the teams from the region coming in at No. 2 overall, only behind Layton Christian Academy. Just behind the Riverhawks, though, is Green Canyon at third with Logan at sixth and Sky View at 10th to make four Cache Valley teams inside the top 10. Rounding out Region 11 teams is Mountain Crest at 13th and Bear River at 21st.
Three Region 11 teams earned a first-round bye – Ridgeline, Green Canyon and Logan – with two more hosting opening round matchups. Sky View will host 23rd ranked Cottonwood and Mountain Crest will host 20th ranked Cedar. Bear River will be the one local team needing to travel, making the trip to 12th ranked Hillcrest. Ridgeline will await the winner of Timpanogos (15th) and Mountain View (18th); Green Canyon will face the winner of Provo (14th) and Jordan (19th); and, Logan will take on either Uintah (11th) or Park City (22nd).
All first round playoff games are tentatively scheduled to kick off at 4 p.m. on Friday, May 10 at the home sites of the higher ranked team. Second round and quarterfinal matchups are also currently scheduled for 4 p.m. on May 14 and May 16, also to be played at home sites of the higher seed, next Tuesday and Thursday. Semifinal games will take place at Zions Bank Stadium with the title game to be played on America First Field.
