Jazz face many questions after another early playoff exit – Cache Valley Daily

Like a few other teams on the top of that list — the Lakers and Brooklyn, primarily — they wound up as disappointments. The Jazz, who brought back many key players from last season, when they had the NBA’s best regular-season record, lost to the Dallas Mavericks in six games for their second first-round exit in three seasons. “We fell short of our goal,” guard Donovan Mitchell said. “This hurts, I ain’t going to lie.” Potential future changes after another disappointing end could center on Mitchell and center Rudy Gobert. Gobert is owed $85 million over the next two years, plus he holds a $46.6 million player option for the 2025-26 season. Mitchell is owed $67.5 million for the next two seasons, followed by a $37 million player option. Their

LOGAN, Utah – Utah State University Vice President and Director of Athletics John Hartwell announced Thursday a $1 million gift from Tom and Patty Willis for a new state-of-the-art full-length indoor practice facility. “We are grateful for the generous gift from the Willis family on this facility that will be a positive game-changer for our student-athletes across all sports,” said Hartwell. “Tom and Patty’s buy-in to our vision will serve as a catalyst for our development team as we raise the funds to build the practice facility.” The 110,000-square-foot $30 million facility, which will be located on campus next to the Stan Laub Indoor Training Center, will have a full-size football field and can also accommodate a full-size soccer field. The project will also house USU’s new golf training facility, along with locker rooms and office space for the soccer program. The new indoor practice facility will free up the Stan Laub Indoor Training Center (the current indoor facility) for more access for all sports. Luka Doncic, Mavericks beat Jazz to advance to second round – Cache Valley Daily

Dallas Mavericks guard Luka Doncic (77) gestures in the second half of Game 6 of an NBA basketball first-round playoff series against the Utah Jazz, Thursday, April 28, 2022, in Salt Lake City. (AP Photo/Rick Bowmer) SALT LAKE CITY (AP) — Luke Doncic believes he can score on anyone. To advance to the second round of the playoffs for the first time, he had to trust his teammates. After previous postseasons filled with individual highlights, Doncic shared the ball and the Dallas Mavericks slipped past the Utah Jazz. “I like sharing the ball. If they’re going to hit or blitz me, someone is going to be open,” Doncic said. Doncic and Jalen Brunson each scored 24 points and the Mavericks beat the Jazz 98-96 on Thursday night in Game 6 to wrap up the first-round series. “It was all about trust,” Dallas coach Jason Kidd said. “Luka did an incredible job knowing they were going to try and take the ball out of his hands.” After Brunson hit a 3-pointer from the corner, Mike Conley was called for traveling with five seconds remaining, and Brunson made one of two free throws with 4.3 seconds to play. “Playing with Luka the
