Cache Valley Media Group announces All-Region 11 Football Team for 2023 – Cache Valley Daily

LOGAN – Yet again multiple teams from Region 11 made it to the state semifinal playoff games, and one even made it to the championship. It was a record year for Green Canyon, particularly, defeating Sky View for the first time and making the deepest playoff run in school history. The 2023 football season was full of close contests and exciting plays throughout Region 11 and the voting members* of the Cache Valley Media Group who regularly follow high school football have voted on and selected the All Region 11 1st and 2nd teams, along with an overall Most Valuable Player, Offensive Player of the Year, Defensive Player of the Year and Coach of the Year. Running back Brevin Egbert from Sky View was recognized as the MVP; wide receiver Graham Livingston was recognized as the Offensive Player of the Year; defensive lineman Will Wheatley from Green Canyon was recognized as the Defensive Player of the Year; and, first-year Green Canyon head coach JT Tauilili was selected as the Coach of the Year. LOGAN, Utah – Utah State football had nine players garner all-Mountain West honors, including three first-team selections, as the league office announced its postseason football awards Tuesday. In all, USU had four offensive and five defensive players recognized. Utah State had three players named to the Mountain West first team in graduate senior inside linebacker MJ Tafisi Jr., junior wide receiver Jalen Royals and sophomore safety Ike Larsen. USU also had one player earn second team honors in senior Terrell Vaughn as both a wide receiver and kick returner. And five more Aggies were named honorable mention all-MW in senior defensive tackle Hale Motu’apuaka, redshirt junior linebacker Anthony Switzer, junior Micah Davis as both a wide receiver and punt returner, junior tight end Broc Lane and sophomore safety Devin Dye. Falslev’s 23, Aggie defense leads USU to win over Montana State Billings in exhibition – Cache Valley Daily

LOGAN — Danny Sprinkle’s unofficial debut as head coach of the Utah State men’s basketball team, featuring an all-new Aggie lineup, went about as well as one can hope for a team with 13 newcomers and zero returning production from last year’s rotation. A defensive-minded USU squad held Division II Montana State Billings to 37.7 percent shooting (28.6 in the first half) while Mason Falslev and his 23 points, seven rebounds and four assists powered the Aggie offense in a 73-64 win in the Friday evening exhibition game. “For the first time playing in front of the crowd, I was proud of them,” Sprinkle said. Utah State’s effort and intensity on defense, which included forcing 19 turnovers, were a big positive from that game and a big part of what Sprinkle is expecting to bring to this program. The guard line were especially intense, accounting for five of the Aggies’ 12 steals and numerous other deflections leading to turnovers.
