LOGAN — The coaches votes for boys basketball All-Region 11 teams and awards were released Tuesday afternoon with numerous standout players from the region receiving recognition. Logan forward Jordan Child — who led the region in points (20.9), rebounds (7.8), steals (2.5) and blocks (1.7) and was also third in assists (3.8) — was named Player of the Year. The Grizzlies’ coach, Mitchell Argyle, earned Coach of the Year honors. Argyle, in his third season as coach at Logan, led the team to a second-place finish and its highest RPI rank in program history, ending the year ranked third in RPI among all 4A schools. The region’s Defensive Player of the Year award is being shared by Ridgeline’s senior guard Cam Blotter and Green Canyon’s senior forward Jaxson Drysdale. The Riverhawks and Wolves were the two best defensive teams statistically with these to players being key factors in that defensive success. Sky View’s Macade Rolle earned Newcomer of the Year, the sophomore being the only non-senior anywhere among players in the All-Region awards, Rolle also earned Honorable Mention All-Region. MILLVILLE — Winning back-to-back state championships is often enough to put a satisfying close to a high school career and _ seniors on Ridgeline’s 4A Girls Basketball title-winning squad would be able to look back fondly on such a career. Their legacy, spanning four seasons, is an 89-12 record, three Region 11 titles, three straight appearances in the championship round and the aforementioned two straight gold-colored trophies. But these Riverhawks aren’t done yet. On March 28, Ridgeline will embark on its second out-of-state tournament of the year, and much like the last it’ll result in playing the toughest competition possible. The Riverhawks were invited to participate in “The Throne” tournament. It’s an eight-team field comprising some of the best high school basketball teams in the entire U.S. “We’re excited for the opportunity we get to take these girls out there,” Ridgeline head coach Ainsli Jenks said in an interview on the Full Court Press. “We’ve never been there, we just are excited to to be able to go play. I think it’s a fantastic way for these five seniors go out for their high school careers.” Five of the eight teams are

For a fourth straight season, Region 11 saw a team appear in the 4A state championship game and for the third time in those four years, a Region 11 team took home the title as Ridgeline completed a 25-2 season that saw the Riverhawks not lose to a single team inside the state of Utah. LEFT – Green Canyon senior guard Jared Anderson | RIGHT – Ridgeline junior guard Emilee Skinner LOGAN — For the final week of basketball season, the Cache Valley Media Group Prep Players of the Week, Presented by McDonalds, happened to be the two players who took their respective teams the farthest in the 4A State Playoffs. Green Canyon guard Jared Anderson, whose Wolves made it to the semifinal round, and Ridgeline guard Emilee Skinner, who alongside her teammates, cut down the nets as back-to-back state champions. Anderson averaged 19.0 points per game in Green Canyon’s three playoff games. He scored exactly 23 in back-to-back games, including nine threes on those contests, for the Wolves’ win over Ridgeline in the quarterfinal and then loss to eventual champion Layton Christian Academy in the semifinal. Skinner scored at least 17 points in all four of Ridgeline’s playoff games en route to a second straight state title. She recorded a triple-double in the Riverhawks’ first playoff game against Crimson Cliffs, scoring 27 to go with 13 rebounds, 10 assists and seven steals.
