The new-look Pac-12 is introducing seven new teams to the conference for the 2026-27 men’s basketball season. Alongside these new teams, a host of newcomers, brought in via the transfer portal, will be showcased to fans of the reformed Conference of Champions. In days gone by, transfers were mostly supplementary to the returning players, guys who had been with their teams 2-3 years, who would be the real stars. According to multiple reports from media outlets, the Pac-12 and Mountain West have agreed in principle to a settlement regarding a lawsuit roughly $150 million in exit and penalty fees. The Mountain West has sought that money from the Pac-12 and its member schools over the departure of five schools from its conference to the rebuilt Conference of Champions — Boise State, Colorado State, Fresno State, San Diego State and Utah State. Both Jon Wilner, a west-coast-based columnist and college sports reporter, and Mark Zeigler of the San Diego Union-Tribune reported Monday afternoon that a settlement has been agreed to, though it has yet to be finalized, as it needs to be formally brought before the court. The basis for the $150 million conflict arises from the combination of exit fees the Mountain West sought from the five departing schools, plus additional fees from the Pac-12 that stem from a scheduling agreement the two leagues signed in December 2023. In response, the Pac-12 filed a lawsuit against the Mountain West in September 2024, citing antitrust laws. Ace Reiser became the fifth member of Utah State’s 2026 transfer portal recruiting class, joining the Aggies after spending his freshman season at the College of Southern Idaho. In that lone year, Reiser accomplished quite a bit. He helped lead CSI to a national runner-up finish and, for his individual efforts, earned JUCO All-American honors. Despite the recent narrative that junior college recruits are of higher quality, due in part to chaos around changing eligibility and the COVID years given to players, Utah State hasn’t drawn (directly) from the JUCO ranks much in the last few years. Only one player has come directly to Logan from a junior college team in the last six years. That was Kalifa Sakho, who came to USU from South Plains College to play under Danny Sprinkle. Before that, Craig Smith brought on guys like Kuba Karwowski and Alphonso Anderson to be role players for the team. SANDY, Utah (AP) — Zavier Gozo scored twice — the 19-year-old’s first career multi-goal game in MLS — and Rafael Cabral had four saves Wednesday night to help Real Salt Lake beat the Houston Dynamo 3-0. Gozo has a career-high five goals this season. An own goal by Houston midfielder Duane Holmes gave Salt Lake a 1-0 in the 49th minute before Gozo scored in the 57th and 64th. DeAndre Yedlin, on the counter-attack, raced to the edge of the penalty box and, as a pair of defenders converged, tapped a pass to Gozo from a finish from the center of the area in the to make it 2-0. Gozo later ran onto a long ball played ahead by Stijn Spierings on the left side and then beat goalkeeper Jonathan Bond with a shot inside the back post to cap the scoring. The Dynamo (6-6-0) had won back-to-back games and four of their last five. Cabral had his second shutout this season for RSL (7-4-1).
