Logan High School football field to be named Favero Field honoring legendary coach | Sports

The football field at Logan High School will soon carry the name of one of the most successful coaches in its history.

The Logan City School District Board of Education announced the high school football field will officially be named Favero Field, recognizing the contributions and legacy of longtime head football coach Mike Favero.

Favero led the Grizzlies for 17 seasons and mentored generations of students both on and off the field. District leaders said the naming honors his impact on student-athletes, the football program and the broader Logan community.

During his tenure, Favero guided the Grizzlies to eight region championships and five state titles across multiple classifications. The championships came in 2000, 2005, 2007, 2011 and 2015 while competing at the 3A, 3AA and 4A levels.

Favero has also received numerous coaching honors. Among them are the NSSA Champions Award for the state of Utah and the National Federation of High School Football Coaches Coach of the Year award in 2008. He has also been named Utah Coach of the Year multiple times.

In 2023, Favero was inducted into the Utah Sports Hall of Fame.

“Coach Favero’s record of success speaks for itself, but his true legacy is the impact he had on generations of student-athletes,” said Logan City School District Board President Becky Quay. “It takes vision, discipline, consistency, and the ability to bring out the very best in young people year after year. The naming of Favero Field honors not only the championships, but the lasting standard of excellence he established at Logan High School.”

A formal dedication ceremony is planned for fall 2026 at the start of the high school football season. School officials say community members, alumni and supporters in Logan and across Cache Valley will be invited to attend the event.
