How Utah State’s 2026 football schedule compares to its 2025 slate | Sports

The Pac-12 released its first football schedule in the new era of the fabled “Conference of Champions.” And with it, we have the full 2026 schedule for the Utah State Aggies. There are some new quirks to this schedule, which require some explanation and examination. There’s also the question as to how it compares to 2025. Will it be an easier or more difficult schedule than what Bronco Mendenhall and the Aggies had to take on in his first year as the head coach? They aren’t the easiest questions to figure out in February, given we’ll have to paste 2025 results and records onto 2026, but it’s the best picture we’ll get until August/September (or until preseason rankings come out and we re-do this analysis based on those). Starting with the end result of a bunch of data collection and math, Utah State’s schedule in 2026 looks to be very similar in difficulty to 2025. The data indicating this being opponents’ overall win percentage from the 2025 season (0.560 for the 2025 schedule and 0.569 for 2026) and in average ranking in Bill Connelly’s SP+ metric (72.1 last year, 65.5 for this upcoming season). BYU says star wide receiver charged with felony rape is no longer a student there | News

SALT LAKE CITY (AP) — Brigham Young University said Friday that standout wide receiver Parker Kingston is no longer a student at the Utah private school after he was arrested this week on a first-degree felony rape charge. Kingston, 21, made his initial court appearance Friday in St. George, where prosecutors say a woman who was 20 years old at the time told officers that Kingston assaulted her at her home last February. He was arrested following a yearlong investigation in which detectives collected digital and forensic evidence and interviewed witnesses, Washington County Attorney Jerry Jaeger said. “I found by clear and convincing evidence that Mr. Kingston was a danger to the community,” Judge John Walton said during the hearing. Still, Walton allowed Kingston to be released Friday on a $100,000 bond with $10,000 cash immediately paid to the court after he was held initially without bail. His defense attorney, Cara Tangaro, agreed that Kingston could have no contact with his accuser or any potential witnesses, must stay off social media and would wear a GPS ankle monitor to ensure he doesn’t return to the southwestern Utah county, except for court appearances. He appeared before the judge by remote video

Utah State blitzes Memphis, cruises to 24-point victory | Sports

LOGAN — During what normally would have been a bye game for Utah State, the Aggies put on an offensive show for the crowd rather than rest from a grueling Mountain West schedule. They put up 99 points in an eventual 24-point win (99-75) over an athletic and capable Memphis team. The Tigers stepped onto the court owning the 34th-ranked defense according to KenPom analytics, and that showed in the opening minutes. Utah State made just two of its first 11 field goal attempts. Luckily for the Aggies, their defense responded in kind, holding Memphis to a 2-for-8 shooting mark to start the game.  The grueling defense from both sides slowed scoring for both teams up until about the 4:31 mark of the first half. At that moment, USU head coach Jerrod Calhoun made a bold lineup choice against a Memphis team that had 7-footers to spare. He subbed out Adlan Elamin and put MJ Collins in for him. That left the Aggies with a four-guard lineup — Drake Allen, Mason Falslev, Kolby King and MJ Collins — with just one big: Karson Templin. Memphis had two players taller than 6-foot-11 on the court. The move paid off in spades as Utah State
