Utah State basketball vs Colorado State (Dec. 20) preview: How to watch, team breakdowns, projected starters, injuries | Sports

Utah State’s last outing featured a win over Illinois State in the Delta Center. That capped (for the most part) the Aggies’ games in non-conference play. For the next two months, it’ll be Mountain West games as USU will march through its last regular season in the conference before its move to the Pac-12 next year.

Here’s all of the necessary info ahead of the Aggies’ conference opener.

Utah State (9-1)

  • G – Drake Allen (6-5, Sr.) – 5.9 points | 3.1 rebounds | 5.7 assists
  • G – Mason Falslev (6-4, Jr.) – 15.3 points | 5.7 rebounds | 2.6 assists

  • F – Zach Keller (6-10, Sr.) – 2.2 points | 1.4 rebounds | 0.1 assists

Colorado State (9-2)

  • G – Brandon Rechsteiner (6-1, Jr.) – 11.7 points | 1.5 rebounds | 3.0 assists
  • G – Josh Pascarelli (6-3, Jr.) – 14.6 points | 2.5 rebounds | 1.9 assists
  • G – Jevin Muniz (6-6, Jr.) – 8.1 points | 4.5 rebounds | 5.1 assists
  • F – Kyle Jorgensen (6-9, So.) – 15.2 points | 5.8 rebounds | 2.7 assists
  • F – Carey Booth (6-10, Jr.) – 12.3 points | 6.9 rebounds | 1.1 assists

Utah State’s starting lineup should be considered fairly fluid after going essentially the first month of the season with basically zero changes. Drake Allen, Mason Falslev and MJ Collins are all pretty safe bets to start in the backcourt so long as they are healthy. But in the frontcourt, it’s basically a combination of either Tucker Anderson or Adlan Elamin at one forward spot, and then one of the trio of Zach Keller, Karson Templin and Garry Clark. These changes will likely be matchup based, catering to who the Aggies are playing one game to the next.

Availability Report

Utah State currently has no players expected to miss time due to injury. Three players on the roster are redshirting, freshman forwards Kingston Tosi and David Iweze along with freshman guard Brayden Boe.

Colorado State was without forwards Kyle Jorgensen and Rashaan Mbemba in its most recent game against NAIA side Northwest New Mexico. Jorgensen should be considered likely to play and would be a surprise omission from the lineup if he doesn’t appear on the court in the Spectrum on Saturday. Mbemba has missed most of the season thus far, playing only two games, but is nearing his return. Colorado State head coach Ali Farokhmanesh has previously said the plan is to have Mbemba return to the lineup near the beginning of conference play (i.e. potentially as soon as this game) or at the start of January.
