The Utah Mammoth are bringing over two of their top prospects from Russia in time for next season, signing defenseman Dmitri Simashev and forward Daniil But to three-year entry-level contracts. Simashev was the sixth pick and But was taken 12th in the 2023 draft when the team was known as the Arizona Coyotes. Each of the 20-year-olds spent this past season in the KHL with Lokomotiv Yaroslavl and won the Gagarin Cup. “Dmitri has established himself as one of the top defenseman prospects in the NHL,” Armstrong said. “Daniil is a highly skilled forward with a great shot and playmaking skills who is coming off a career season.” Getting them signed allows Utah to play them in the NHL or the American Hockey League next season. Former Utah State football WR is leading UFL in receiving yards | Sports

Nearly six years after he wore a Utah State jersey, Siaosi Mariner is still finding ways to dominate on the football field. Mariner, currently a member of the Michigan Panthers of the United Football league, or UFL, is the leading receiver for both his team and the league as a whole. His play has helped lead Michigan to a 6-3 overall record ahead of its regular season finale against the Houston Roughnecks. Mariner currently has 528 total receiving yards, ranking first among all players. His 31 receptions ranks eighth, his yards per game and yards per reception rank second behind Deon Cain, the former Clemson receiver and five-year NFL veteran. For reference, Mariner’s 58.7 yards per game would put him right on the brink of a 1,000-yard campaign in a 17-game NFL season. According to James Larsen of Pro Football Newsroom, Mariner said he feels as though he’s one of the best pass-catchers in the UFL. “I feel like my name doesn’t get brought up enough. Utah State Track & Field sending 21 student-athletes to NCAA West First Rounds | Sports

LOGAN, Utah – Utah State track & field will be represented by 21 student-athletes at the 2025 NCAA West First Rounds in College Station, Texas, from Wednesday to Saturday, May 28-31.  Utah State will be sending 16 men and five women to the prelims. The Aggies’ 21 qualifying athletes for the preliminary round are the program’s most since a school-record 22 student-athletes were invited in 2018. Athletes who ranked among the top 48 in the East or West regions in their respective event earned berths to the NCAA First Rounds. Athletes with the top-12 times/marks and the 12 best relay teams at both the East and West First Rounds will advance to the NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships, which are being held June 11-14, in Eugene, Oregon. Three men’s pole vaulters, who collectively swept the podium at last week’s 2025 Mountain West Outdoor Track and Field Championships, qualified for the prelims. Junior Logan Hammer, a two-time All-American and five-time conference champion, leads the trio with a school-record clearance of 5.70 meters (18-8.25), set at the Beach Invitational, that also ranks second in the nation.
