Luciano Acosta, rookie goalkeeper Michael Collodi lead Dallas to 1-0 victory over Real Salt Lake | Sports

SANDY, Utah (AP) — Luciano Acosta scored in first-half stoppage time after Real Salt Lake lost rookie Ariath Piol to a red card in the 23rd minute, and FC Dallas held on for a 1-0 victory behind goalkeeper Michael Collodi in his league debut at America First Field on Saturday night. Piol, a 20-year-old forward, did not last long in his fourth career start for Real Salt Lake (2-3-0). Dallas (2-2-1) didn’t take advantage until the seventh minute of stoppage time when Acosta scored unassisted off a deflection. It was Acosta’s second goal in his first season with the club and his 74th in 256 career appearances. The former league MVP has yet to add to his 97 career assists. Collodi, a 23-year-old homegrown product from Plano, Texas, totaled two saves in posting the clean sheet for Dallas. He filled in for regular starter Maarten Paes — on international duty with Indonesia. SALT LAKE CITY (AP) — Jarrett Allen scored 18 points and Donovan Mitchell added 16, helping Cleveland snap a four-game losing streak with a 120-91 victory over the Utah Jazz on Sunday. Evan Mobley had 11 points, 11 rebounds and three blocks to help the Cavaliers get back in the win column. Six players scored in double figures for Cleveland. Kyle Filipowski led Utah with 18 points and 13 rebounds. Walker Kessler added 13 rebounds and three blocks. The Jazz rallied from an early 12-point deficit and took a 36-34 lead on Collin Sexton’s layup midway through the second quarter. Cleveland went ahead for good after taking a 44-43 lead on Mitchell’s pull-up jumper with 2:04 left before halftime. Utah State gymnastics wins first-ever Mountain West championship | Sports

SAN JOSE, California – Utah State won its first-ever Mountain West Gymnastics Championship as the Aggies scored a 196.100 here on Saturday at Provident Credit Union Event Center. Overall, it is USU’s seventh conference title in school history and first since winning the 2022 Mountain Rim Gymnastics Conference Championship. During the competition, Utah State won one event title and posted two career highs and two more season best scores. Graduate Brianna Brooks, who was named the Championship MVP, tied for first on bars with a season-high-tying 9.900 and tied for third on bars with a score of 9.850. Utah State began the meet on the floor and scored 49.050, followed by 48.900 on vault, 49.200 on bars and 48.950 on beam. USU’s 196.100 is its third highest score of the season and tied for its fourth highest in a conference championship meet in program history. Boise State placed second with a 195.950, San José State finished third with 195.350 and Air Force scored 195.150 to place fourth.
