Quickley scores season-high 34 points as Raptors overcome Kessler’s 25 boards and beat Jazz 118-109 | Sports

TORONTO (AP) — Immanuel Quickley scored a season-high 34 points and the Toronto Raptors overcame a dominant rebounding effort by Walker Kessler to beat the Utah Jazz 118-109 on Friday night. Quickley added five rebounds, five assists and three steals in the Raptors’ third straight win. Scottie Barnes had 22 points, 12 rebounds and six assists. Kessler led the Jazz with 18 points while setting career highs with 25 rebounds and eight blocks. Keyonte George also scored 18 points for the Jazz. Utah, last in the Western Conference, suffered its fourth straight loss. Raptors rookie guard Ja’Kobe Walter had 14 points, five rebounds and two assists before leaving the game in the third quarter after straining his right quad. Walter joined a long list of Toronto players who were unavailable for the game, including top scorer RJ Barrett (ankle, rest). The Raptors have won three straight games. Connor Bedard scores in overtime to lift Blackhawks to 4-3 win over Utah | Sports

CHICAGO (AP) — Connor Bedard scored 3:10 into overtime to give the Chicago Blackhawks a 4-3 victory over the Utah Hockey Club on Friday night. Bedard’s 17th goal of the season helped the Blackhawks escape with a victory after squandering a 3-1 lead. Wyatt Kaiser, Ilya Mikheyev and Frank Nazar scored during a 5-minute span in the second period to put the Blackhawks up by two. Spencer Knight finished with 36 saves. Nick Schmaltz, John Marino and Clayton Keller scored for Utah, which lost for the third time in 10 games. Karel Vejmelka had 21 saves. Utah battled back in the third. scoring on Marino’s shot from the point before Keller’s power-play equalizer with 7:44 remaining. DETROIT (AP) — Kevin Stenlund scored the go-ahead goal early in the third period and the Utah Hockey Club handed Detroit its fourth straight loss, 4-2 on Thursday night. Stenlund scored his first goal in 24 games, while Dylan Guenther, Nick Schmaltz and Lawson Crouse also scored for Utah, which has won four of its last five games. Karel Vejmelka made 38 saves on the same day he signed to a five-year contract extension. Dylan Larkin and Jonatan Berggren scored first-period goals for the Red Wings. Alex Lyon stopped 15 shots. Utah State football starts Spring practice on Tuesday, March 18 | Sports

LOGAN, Utah – Under the direction of first year head coach Bronco Mendenhall, Utah State football will begin spring practice on Tuesday, March 18. All practices will be closed, and Utah State will not hold a Spring Game this year. Fans will have an opportunity to watch the team and interact with the players at its annual Football Family Fun Day in August as part of Fall Camp. “After careful consideration, I have reluctantly decided to close our spring practices and not hold a spring game that is open to the public,” said Mendenhall. “My primary intent is both to protect and retain our current roster and to keep our schemes and strategies unknown from our opponents for as long as possible.
