Former Utah State men’s basketball great Jon Wickizer passes away | Sports

LOGAN, Utah — Former Utah State men’s basketball player Jon Wickizer passed away unexpectedly on January 29 at the age of 51.

Wickizer, originally from Woods Cross, Utah, was a four-year letterwinner at Utah State from 1993-96. After a decorated prep career at Woods Cross High School, Wickizer made an immediate impact for the Aggies as he earned Big West Conference all-freshman team honors his first season in Logan. He then became a part-time starter as a sophomore and a full-time starter as a junior, helping lead the Aggies to a 21-8 record and an NIT appearance in 1994-95.

As a senior in 1995-96, Wickizer was one of just three Aggies to start all 33 games as he played 31.7 minutes per contest. He averaged 8.3 points and 4.1 rebounds per game, while ranking as one of the team’s most efficient 3-point shooters as he shot 39.4 percent on the year.

During his career, Wickizer totaled 690 points and 380 rebounds for the Aggies while playing in 111 games and making 73 starts.
