Former Utah State football head coach Blake Anderson is reportedly set to take on the role of offensive coordinator at Southern Mississippi this upcoming season. It’ll be his first collegiate coaching role since being fired from his position at USU in July.
John Brice of FootballScoop and later Matt Zenitz of CBS Sports reported the news Friday morning that Anderson is a top target for the Golden Eagles and their new head coach Charles Huff.

Anderson has previously served as a coach at Southern Miss, including time as the offensive coordinator. He was hired in 2008 by Larry Fedora as the run game coordinator and QB coach and promoted to offensive coordinator in 2010. Anderson followed Fedora to North Carolina in 2012 after a 12-2 season at Southern Miss.
Anderson is currently suing Utah State for $15 million over his July firing in which the university claimed Anderson violated Title IX policy regarding reporting a 2023 incident involving one of his players.
