Jude Haigh, Emilee Skinner again earn CVMG Prep Player of the Week honors (Dec. 2-7) | Sports

For a second straight award period (following a brief break for Thanksgiving) Green Canyon forward Jude Haigh and Ridgeline guard Emilee Skinner are being named the Cache Valley Media Group Boys and Girls Prep Players of the Week.  The Prep Player of the Week awards are presented by BlueSky Restoration and Center Street Grill. Haigh put on another scoring showcase with 36 points against Hurricane, helping the Wolves keep their undefeated record. He led Green Canyon in scoring for two of the three games last week, adding 19 against Minico and 12 against Twin Falls. For the whole week (three games), he averaged 22.3 points, 5.0 rebounds, 3.0 assists and 2.3 steals. Skinner continued her dominance, though only had one game to do so last week. She filled the stat sheet with 29 points, seven rebounds, four assists and five steals as the Riverhawks defeated Fremont on the road on Dec. 3. Mountain West Watch (Dec. 12) – Final football power rankings, MW finding footing in basketball | Sports

The transition for Mountain West Watch from football season back to basketball season (where this series started last year) is here. I’ve been hesitant to put both basketball and football into the same article, but we’re going to do that for one week right now. The final football power rankings, with a bit of a season summary, along with the opening of the basketball power rankings and a look at the standings as conference play has just opened up. There’s a lot to get to here, nearly 3,000 words, and it took me an extra two days to get this out. So let’s get started. Walker’s Final Mountain West Football Power Rankings 1. Boise State (12-1, 7-0) Not much left to say. This is a golden season for Boise State, a return to the dominance of the 2000s and 2010s. The early 2020s had been a bit of a hiccup, with a rare 7-5 season in 2021 and then starting the 2023 season 5-5. Well, since Spencer Danielson took over, the Broncos are 15-2 with zero losses against Group of Five teams. And it’s fitting that one of the original BCS busters is also the first the first G5 team
