Volleyball pulls off remarkable comeback at San Diego State | Sports

SAN DIEGO – After falling behind by two sets and threatening to drop their first three matches of Mountain West play, Utah State volleyball buckled down and found its rhythm. The Aggies jumped out to quick leads in each of the remaining three sets, holding on for a memorable comeback to defeat San Diego State, 3-2 (21-25, 23-25, 27-25, 25-18, 15-12) on Thursday night at Aztec Court. Head coach Rob Neilson “It is such a joy to coach such a hardworking and fun-loving group. Seven five-set matches in a row is helping us to get the reps our young group needs to see and understand their ability to play at a high level. We’re getting better every day.” Set One The two sides exchanged runs through the opening set as Utah State jumped out to an immediate 4-1 lead before San Diego State responded with a 4-0 run to take their first lead of the contest. After USU retook the lead with a 4-0 run of their own, a 10-4 stretch from the Aztecs proved decisive as the home squad took set one, 25-21. Utah State Football at No. 21 Boise State: Preview, Predictions, How to Watch | Sports

Utah State will face a third ranked opponent in four outings (two of those being on the road) as it travels to face No. 21 Boise State for the official start of Mountain West play for both teams. The Aggies are coming off a bye week and are desperate for a win as they currently sit on a three-game losing streak and have yet to defeat an FBS team this season. With Boise State coming off a statement win over Washington State, it’s pretty clear this week’s bout will essentially be a Utah State side seemingly backed against a wall and a Broncos squad looking to continue their roll toward what they are hoping is a spot in the College Football Playoff against a team not as strong on paper as future opponents. In other words, this game is expected to be unbalanced, but also features a recipe for the kind of chaos college football is known for. Ridgeline basketball star Emilee Skinner commits to Duke | Sports

MILLVILLE – Ridgeline girls basketball guard Emilee Skinner has been highly sought after by the best basketball programs in the country for well over a year. But the senior superstar finally settled on her decision to play for Duke starting in 2025. Skinner is a consensus top-10 prospect in the country, with many ranking her inside the top five of the 2025 class. She’s led the Riverhawks to three straight appearances in the 4A state title game, including back-to-back championships. In September, Skinner had narrowed down her choice of schools to Duke, Iowa, UCLA, Notre Dame and TCU, filtering out the dozens of offers she had received, including from Utah State. She announced her commitment this morning via her Instagram account. In three years, Skinner has averaged 21.2 points, 7.1 rebounds and 3.7 assists with her 2024 averages (24.0, 7.7, 4.3) all being career-best marks. No. 12 Utah State Soccer Earns 5-1 Blowout Win over San Diego State | Sports

LOGAN, Utah – No. 12 Utah State soccer (11-0-2, 2-0-1 MW) earned its first win in program history over San Diego State Thursday evening at Chuck & Gloria Bell Field, taking down the defending Mountain West regular season champs 5-1.  After a quiet start to the match, the Aggies struck first in the 22nd minute when a perfect cross from near the corner by junior forward Tess Werts found freshman forward Mia Mullenmeister at the opposite post for the tap-in score. USU followed that up with a beauty of a goal off the left foot of sophomore forward Brooklyn Smith and into the top right corner of the net in the 59th minute. This was the first goal of Smith’s career, but she wasn’t done as she followed with another in the 59th minute, this time from outside the 18-yard box, to pick up a brace and make it 3-0.  In the 64th minute, Werts got in on the scoring action with a goal of her own, capitalizing on a well-placed pass from sophomore forward Kate Christian to extend the lead.
