130 student athletes from throughout Northern Utah receive Academic All-State awards | Sports

The Utah High School Activities Association (UHSAA) recently revealed its Academic All-State Teams for spring sports (boys tennis, girls golf, boys and girls lacrosse, boys soccer, girls and boys track and field, boys volleyball, baseball, softball), as well as Instrumental Music, Speech and Debate, Vocal Music and Theatre. Hundreds of students were recognized from around the state for the accomplishments in the classroom and in competition.

“Since 1927, the UHSAA has led the development of education-based interscholastic athletic and fine arts activities that help students succeed in their lives,” says UHSAA Executive Director Robert Cuff. “The belief is these activities are an essential part of the high school experience and go a long way to improving academic performance and producing better citizens.”

Students are nominated based on their unweighted cumulative high school GPA, ACT/SAT score and are varsity contributors. Over 100,000 students participate in high school activities in Utah, making the Academic All-State award the most prestigious honor the UHSAA presents to senior students.
