Construction crews replace angel Moroni statue atop the Salt Lake Temple | News

SALT LAKE CITY — Construction crews reached another milestone in the renovation of the Salt Lake Temple, of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. During a small gathering Tuesday, April 2, on Temple Square, the angel Moroni statue was returned to the top of the central east spire of the temple. The placement of the statue after a four-year absence (it was removed in May 2020) is a notable achievement toward the completion of the temple renovation project. The renovation has included a major seismic and foundational upgrade. Presiding Bishop Gérald Caussé said, “An important part of this project has been to strengthen the foundation of the temple.” Inside each of the Church’s many temples, faithful members of the Church participate in sacred ceremonies. One of those ceremonies, the endowment, provides instruction, covenants and promised blessings that offer power, purpose and protection in daily life. The project, which also includes “generally refreshing” the Temple Square block, is expected to be finished in 2026. Source link
