(AP Photo/George Frey) SALT LAKE CITY (AP) — Jayson Tatum scored 38 points and Derrick White added 24 to lead the Boston Celtics to a 123-107 win over the struggling Utah Jazz on Tuesday night. The Celtics were missing rotation players Jaylen Brown (back), Kristaps Porzingis (hamstring) and Al Horford (toe) but shot so well it didn’t matter much. “The law of averages, you play so many games you won’t be perfect every night. You have to stick with it and trust that you’re going to have more good days than bad,” Tatum said about the Celtics shooting 40.8% from 3-point range. Region 11 Boys Basketball coaches release All-Region teams, awards – Cache Valley Daily

LOGAN — The coaches votes for boys basketball All-Region 11 teams and awards were released Tuesday afternoon with numerous standout players from the region receiving recognition. Logan forward Jordan Child — who led the region in points (20.9), rebounds (7.8), steals (2.5) and blocks (1.7) and was also third in assists (3.8) — was named Player of the Year. The Grizzlies’ coach, Mitchell Argyle, earned Coach of the Year honors. Argyle, in his third season as coach at Logan, led the team to a second-place finish and its highest RPI rank in program history, ending the year ranked third in RPI among all 4A schools. The region’s Defensive Player of the Year award is being shared by Ridgeline’s senior guard Cam Blotter and Green Canyon’s senior forward Jaxson Drysdale. The Riverhawks and Wolves were the two best defensive teams statistically with these to players being key factors in that defensive success. Sky View’s Macade Rolle earned Newcomer of the Year, the sophomore being the only non-senior anywhere among players in the All-Region awards, Rolle also earned Honorable Mention All-Region. Mountain West Watch Mar. 11 — All-Conference picks and final rankings, standings – Cache Valley Daily

The regular season has come to a close and it’s been one of the best in recent memory. The Mountain West has seven legit teams in its ranks and most of those top seven split series with each other. It’s setting up a conference tournament that could be one for the ages. All previous matchups go out the window. The regular season crown has gone to Utah State, but there’s another one up for grabs, and it has a very desirable benefit attached — a punched ticket to the NCAA Tournament. This will be the final week with entries regarding the standings and rankings, so my own power rankings and the average computer rankings have reached their final state. Next week’s final Mountain West Watch will be entirely about the NCAA Tournament and the matchups for all teams that end up making it (with some recap of the conference tournament). LOGAN – One day following the release of the media vote for Mountain West all-conference awards, the coach’s vote – which counts as the official selection for the awards – handed the Aggies four different “of the year” distinctions and three all-conference honors. He finished top five in the Mountain West in six different statistical categories — including points, rebounds, field goal percentage and steals — and top 15 in four others. Danny Sprinkle was named the Steve Fisher Coach of the Year, an obvious choice after leading the Aggies from a projected ninth-place finish to a regular season conference title.
