Emilee Skinner, Jagger Francom earn CVMG Prep Player of the Week honors for Dec. 11-16 – Cache Valley Daily

Ridgeline basketball swept this week’s selections for Cache Valley Media Group Prep Players of the Week, presented by McDonalds. Riverhawks girls basketball guard Emilee Skinner won girls player of the week with boys basketball center Jagger Francom earned boys player of the week. This is Skinner’s second player of the week honor of the year and was earned through averaging 26.5 points, 7.0 rebounds, 5.0 assists and 3.5 steals across Ridgeline’s two games this week. In the Riverhawks’ win over Bountiful, Skinner scored a season-high 31 points. Francom is earning the award for the first time this year, evidence of his breakout season. In three games he averaged 22.0 points, 8.7 rebounds and 3.0 assists. He scored a career-high 31 points against Cottonwood and recorded his second double-double of the year with 21 points, 10 rebounds against Crimson Cliffs. Other nominations for this week’s awards included Liam Guthrie (Sky View boys), Kyver Jensen (Bear River boys), Layker Ward (Green Canyon boys) Jalen Argyle (Logan boys), Kaden Hess (Mountain Crest boys), Makena Smart (Sky View girls), Aubree Fry (Bear River girls), Marissa Best (Green Canyon girls), Julia Held (Logan girls) and Kali Jones (Mountain Crest girls). (AP Photo/Rick Bowmer) SALT LAKE CITY (AP) — Collin Sexton and Talen Horton-Tucker scored 27 points apiece to lead the Utah Jazz to a 125-108 victory over the Brooklyn Nets on Monday night. Sexton had his fifth straight 20-point game to help Utah win for the third time in four games. He attacked the rim repeatedly to open things up and it paid off. Sexton made a season-high 12 free throws on 13 attempts — falling one shy of matching his career high for made free throws. “I just feel like I’m just in a flow right now,” Sexton said. “It feels good. It feels like the ball is popping. It feels like everybody is involved. We’re all involved and it’s fun.” Horton-Tucker and Sexton also dished out six assists apiece.
