(AP Photo/Abbie Parr) MINNEAPOLIS (AP) — Karl-Anthony Towns had 32 points and 11 rebounds, and the Minnesota Timberwolves weathered the absence of leading scorer Anthony Edwards to beat the Utah Jazz 101-90 on Thursday night. The Wolves moved into a tie with Boston for the best record in the league (14-4). Nickeil Alexander-Walker scored a season-high 20 points and Rudy Gobert had 15 points, 13 rebounds and three blocks for Minnesota. Acquired in a trade with Utah last season that also brought veteran guard Mike Conley to the Wolves, Alexander-Walker had the chance to show his former team what he’s capable of when given the opportunity. “You try not to make it personal, because you want to come out the same way against every other team,” Alexander-Walker said. “But I’m human at the end of the day, so it still feels good to win.” Edwards, who averages 26.2 points per game, was sidelined with a right hip pointer he suffered in Tuesday’s win over Oklahoma City. Sixth-Seeded Utah State volleyball’s season comes to an end at NCAA Tournament – Cache Valley Daily

OMAHA, Neb. – Sixth-seeded Utah State volleyball’s (24-17, 17-1 Mountain West) 2023 season came to a close on Friday as the Aggies lost 3-0 to Minnesota (17-12, 12-8 Big Ten) in the first round of the NCAA Tournament. Graduate senior outside hitter Shelby Capllonch logged a double-double with a team-best 12 kills and 10 digs. Junior setter Beatriz Rodrigues finished with 15 assists, while sophomore setter Leah Wilton-LaBoy logged 12. Senior middle blocker Kelsey Watson rounded out the Aggie leaders with a team-high five blocks. After Minnesota took a 14-7 lead in set one, a 6-1 Utah State run, featuring blocks by Watson and junior opposite side hitter Adna Mehmedovic, along with a Watson kill, trimmed the margin to 15-13. However, Minnesota responded with an 8-1 spurt and maintained the margin for the 25-17 win. Minnesota won set two 25-14. The Aggies came out strong in set three as a Stall kill gave USU a 3-1 edge. (AP Photo/Ashley Landis) COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – The Mountain West Conference announced today a football scheduling agreement for the 2024 season between the Mountain West, Oregon State University, Washington State University, and the Pac-12 Conference. Next season, all 12 MW teams will play seven traditional Conference football games in addition to one contest against either Washington State or Oregon State for a total of eight games (four home and four away). The games against OSU and WSU will not count toward the conference standings, and neither Pac-12 school is eligible for the MW championship game. The Mountain West is currently working on the football schedule and will release matchups soon. “This is a unique and unprecedented opportunity for Oregon State and Washington State to play against highly competitive Mountain West football programs in 2024,” said MW Commissioner Gloria Nevarez. “The scheduling agreement will expand the Mountain West footprint and enhance our national brand, while providing our student-athletes with new opportunities, all in line
