Utah State soccer falls to no. 1-seed BYU in NCAA Tournament – Cache Valley Daily

PROVO, Utah — Utah State soccer (14-8-1, 9-2 MW) saw its season come to a close in the first round of the NCAA Championship Friday evening, falling to 1-seed BYU 2-0 at South Field. With the loss, Utah State concludes a historic 2023 campaign which saw the team win its first-ever Mountain West championship, while winning a program-record nine league contests and finishing with 14 total wins, second-most in program history. This was also just the third time in team history the Aggies made it to the NCAA Tournament, and the first time since 2012. “We played a good game overall, and when you get to this point the most important thing is to get the result and we didn’t get it today, but I’m really proud of the way our team fought,” said Utah State head coach Manny Martins. “We had some really great moments then we had some moments where we fell short, and obviously against a great team you get punished. Overall, we’re proud of how we fought and how we had the resilience to keep fighting all the way to the dying seconds of the game.” After handing the Cougars one of their two regular season

Utah State volleyball sweeps San José State on Senior Night – Cache Valley Daily

LOGAN, Utah – Utah State volleyball (22-5, 15-1 Mountain West) honored its senior for Senior Night in the best way possible: a sweep over San José State (12-16, 3-12 MW) in front of a sold-out crowd. “You can’t write a better ending,” head coach Rob Neilson said. “We got to start seven seniors. Everybody played really, really well. It was just a complete game from our team. I got a little weepy about midway through the third game thinking about when this group started here three, four years ago, what was going on in this gym and then what they’ve created since. This is just an unbelievably special group of people. I’m so grateful to our fans who honor them and have supported them and have come out and shown out. We’ve still got more to do and we’re excited for what’s to come in the next few weeks. But, what a great way to send the seniors out.” Prior to the match, USU honored its seven seniors in Kennedi Boyd, Shelby Capllonch, Jordi Holdaway, Inka Mehtola, Beatriz Rodrigues, Jill Schneggenburger and Tatum Stall. The senior class has been part of three Mountain West championship teams, including the 2023 outright regular
