Mia Lopez and Payton Wilson have been named this week’s Cache Valley Media Group Prep Players of the Week, presented by McDonalds. Lopez, a forward for the Logan girls soccer team, is the girls player of the week with Payton Wilson, quarterback of Green Canyon’s football team, being named the boys player of the week.
Lopez recorded a hat trick in the Grizzlies’ 3-2 win over Dixie in the first round of the UHSAA 4A Girls Soccer Playoffs. She scored twice in the first half, including one in the first two minutes of the game, and then netted the game-winner late in the second half to send Logan to the second round of the playoffs.
Wilson set career-highs in passing yards and touchdowns this week in Green Canyon’s 39-15 win over Logan. He completed 13 of 14 passes for 257 yards with four passing touchdowns and added a rushing TD for good measure.
Other nominees this week included Ryen Smith (Sky View volleyball), Elly Giordano (Green Canyon girls volleyball), Hadli Barrera (Mountain Crest girls soccer), Aiden Wilson (Bear River football), Jace Pingree (Logan football), Aiden Anderson (Ridgeline football), Cole Jones (Mountain Crest football) and Seth Toolson (Sky View football).
