A pair of Mountain Crest athletes were named the Cache Valley Media Group Girls Prep Players of the Week, Presented by McDonalds. Megan Nielsen of the Mustangs girls soccer team earned the girls player of the week honor with Will DeKorver of the football team earning boys player of the week.
Nielsen played a major role in Mountain Crest’s 7-0 victory over Bear River to help the Mustangs remain in the three-way tie atop the Region 11 girls soccer standings. She didn’t score a goal but assisted on five of her teammates goals.
DeKorver helped the Mustangs to a 14-10 upset road victory over Green Canyon, the formerly No. 1 ranked team in the football RPI. He caught seven passes for a season-high 141 yards and a touchdown against the top defense in 4A and one of the top defenses in the state overall.
