Ryen Smith, JT White earn CVMG Prep Player of the Week honors for Aug. 21-26 – Cache Valley Daily

LOGAN — For the week of August 21-26, Sky View outside hitter Ryen Smith was named Cache Valley Media Group Girls Prep Player of the Week while Ridgeline running back JT White earned Boys Prep Player of the Week, both awards presented by McDonalds.

Smith, the Girls Player of the Week winner, helped lead the Bobcats to an undefeated week with six games played, including a five-game showcase over the weekend on their home court in Smithfield. Throughout the week Smith averaged 4.0 kills and 3.2 digs per set. That included games of 18 kills, 14 digs against Blackfoot and 19 kills with 12 digs in a win over Region 11 rival Green Canyon.

White had his second game of 170 yards in as many weeks. He ran the ball 27 times for 172 yards with three rushing scores in Ridgeline’s 28-27 nailbiter win over Stansbury on Friday. White also caught four passes for an additional 32 yards, giving him a total of 204 all-purpose yards, his first career game of 200-plus yards from scrimmage.

Other nominees for this week’s award included Addy Sofonia (Mountain Crest girls soccer), Austin Miller (Green Canyon girls soccer), Brooklyn Coats (Green Canyon girls volleyball), Jace Roberts (Bear River football), Carter Stembridge (Green Canyon football), Reed Olsen (Logan football), Karson Butters (Mountain Crest football) and Easton Ballard (Sky View football).
