LOGAN — The top player according to the panel of voters for the Cache Valley Media Group Top 25 Aggies of 2023 is sophomore safety Ike Larsen. The native of Cache Valley itself is the rising star of Utah State after a breakout redshirt freshman season.

Larsen spent time at both Logan and Sky View High School before joining the Aggies in 2021. He only appeared in one game that season but earned playing time in 2022. Larsen began as largely a special teams player but eventually became a starter toward the end of the season. His impact on the field came from making numerous big plays as Larsen led the team with four interceptions while also blocking a USU-record three punts. Larsen finished the year with 34 tackles, 3.0 TFLs, 2.0 sacks, two passes deflected with the four INTs (one of them being returned for a touchdown).

Larsen earned numerous accolades throughout 2022 including twice being named Mountain West Freshman of the Week, MW Defensive Player of the Week once and being selected Second-Team All-Mountain West by the conference and Honorable Mention Freshman All-American by College Football News.
