Juneteenth at Utah State University
LOGAN – Concluding events for Utah State University’s Juneteenth celebration are scheduled for Friday, Saturday and Sunday.
Amand Hardiman, co-chair and co-founder of USU Juneteenth, explains Sunday’s concluding event.
“Make sure on Father’s Day, I know fathers out there. We’ve got a Father’s Day special treat for you all,” Hardiman said. “We’re joining together with the Aggie Alumni Band as well as the Debra Bonner Unity Choir and that event is at 7 p.m. at the Daines Concert Hall. Again it’s free.”
Friday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. at the TSC International Lounge in the Taggart Student Center, are Educational Museum Displays highlighting Black and African History, as it relates to USU and the State of Utah.
Also Friday, 10 a.m. to noon at the West Stadium Center on the third floor there will be an opportunity for Black and African American Alumni to meet with USU students and student-athletes.
Friday afternoon in the TSC Ballroom there will be three in-person panels on Race and Policing (1 p.m.), Race and Parenting (3 p.m.) and celebration of Title IX (5 p.m.). Those will also be available on Aggiecast.
Saturday includes a Juneteenth Fun Run and 5K honoring the legacy of Mignon Barker Richmond, 8:30 a.m. to 11 a.m. at Reeder Cross-Country Course at 1165 E. 1400 N. On campus.
The Juneteenth Barbecue from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday is free, at Bridger Park, 1179 N. 400 West in Logan.
