Nearly 100 local students in nine different sports recognized on spring Academic All-State teams – Cache Valley Daily

LOGAN – The Utah High School Activities Association (UHSAA) recently announced its spring Academic All-State teams. Dozens of student athletes from Region 11, Box Elder High School and Rich High School were recognized for their achievements in their designated sports and for their success in the classroom. In total, 90 local students were recognized in nine spring sports.

“For over many years the UHSAA has presented the Academic All-State Award to recognize those students who have excelled in the classroom as well as in athletic competition,” says UHSAA Executive Director Rob Cuff. “Individuals are selected for this award on the basis of their athletic ability and academic proficiency.

“With over 100,000 students participating in high school activities, this award is the most prestigious honor the UHSAA presents to senior students. On behalf of all those who are associated with the UHSAA, I congratulate and pay tribute to those individuals who have earned and received this distinguished award.“

The nomination process for these awards opened on March 19 and continued through April 18. Student athletes are considered for these recognitions based on their unweighted cumulative high school GPA, ACT/SAT score, and a nomination form.
