USU hires Todd Judge as new softball head coach – Cache Valley Daily

LOGAN — Utah State announced the hiring of its 10th softball coach in program history, Todd Judge, on Monday. He will replace Steven Johnson who retired after 10 seasons with the team and becoming the second-winningest coach in program history during his tenure. Judge’s most recent role came at BYU where he spent two seasons, first as a volunteer coach in 2022 and then an assistant coach in 2023. Last year Judge worked as the third base coach and also held the roles of recruiting coordinator and strength and conditioning advisor. During his time at BYU, the Cougars posted an overall record of 77-27. Prior to his time at BYU, Judge spent 25 years coaching baseball and softball travelling teams and another four years in various roles with junior college teams (primarily as a strength and conditioning coach). Aside from coaching, Judge has nearly three decades of work as a personal trainer under his belt. He’s owned fitness facilities and trained athletes who went on to play at various levels and sports including Minor League Baseball, PGA and the NFL. Name, Image, Likeness collectives at work for USU Aggies – Cache Valley Daily

LOGAN – In the early days of Name, Image and Likeness money seeping into college sports, a poll indicated 67 percent of athletes who were already considering transferring said that NIL would play a role in their decision. Aggie fans argue it is the lack of NIL funds that has driven some student-athlete stars right out of Cache Valley. Just this weekend, Aggie defensive lineman Phillip Paea, who came to Utah State from Michigan two years ago, but had recently joined the transfer portal, announced on social media he was transferring to Oklahoma. That makes six Aggie defensive players who have left for the Big 12.
