Utah State men’s tennis falls to Boise State 4-2 in the Mountain West Championship – Cache Valley Daily

LAS VEGAS, Nevada— Utah State men’s tennis season was spoiled by No. 72 Boise State in the Mountain West Conference Championship on Friday. Utah State started the afternoon with an early lead by taking the doubles point via wins on courts 1 and 2 thanks to seniors David Cierny and Bodin Zarkovic with a 6-1 victory at the first position, and junior Stijn Paardekooper andfreshman Nuno Pinheiro at the second spot with a 6-4 win. Seniors Javier Ruiz and Jack Ninteman played their final match for Utah State at the second doubles position. After not playing the day before, Zarkovic was the only Aggie to earn a point during singles play, posting a 6-4, 7-5 win at the second spot over his Bronco opponent. On court four, sophomore Sergi Micó Fenollar’s match was suspended in the third set after up-and-down tiebreaker sets as the Broncos earned their fourth and final point of the match. On courts one and three, Cierny and Paardekooper each won their first sets, but was unable to come up with the next two. Pinheiro lost his first set on court six in a 7-6 tiebreaker. He bounced back with a 6-3 second-set victory, but Boise State clinched their final point in the third set as the native of Sintra,
